Sophie Prize winner Sheila Watt-Cloutier nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

Norwegian members of parliament Børge Brende and Heidi Sørensen has nominated Sophie Prize winner (2005) Sheila Watt-Cloutier and former vice president of USA, Al Gore, for the Nobel Peace Prize 2007.

Sheila Watt-Cloutier is nominated for her efforts to draw the world´s attention to the devastating human effects of climate change.

"This is such big news for our people and for the planet. I am so honored and humbled" says Sheila Watt-Cloutier to The Sophie Foundation.

Sheila is looking forward to visit Norway again, and to meet with all former Sophie Prize winenrs, on The Sophie Prize 10 year anniversary on June 5th.  

The inuitt leader was awarded the Sophie Prize 2005. The prize amount has given her the possibilty to start writing the book The Right to be Cold.

Sophie Prize winner 2004, Professor Wangari Maathai, was awarded the Nobel Peace Price in December 2004.
